- Can buyers reply to you?
- We check that mail for your domain has somewhere to go. Technical name: MX.
- Who is allowed to send as you?
- A public list of the servers allowed to send email in your name. Technical name: SPF.
- Is your email signed?
- A digital signature that proves an email really came from you. Technical name: DKIM. We try the common names; a custom name will not show up, so a missing result is amber, not red.
- Can your emails be trusted?
- The rule that tells Gmail and Outlook what to do with fakes. Technical name: DMARC.
- Are you on a spam list?
- Two well-known lists, Spamhaus DBL and SURBL. Their operators often refuse lookups from public servers. When that happens the result is "Unknown", which is not the same as clean.
